This is a review of the title of a book. The book might be fine. We’re gonna spend some time with the title.
What if we really need to be more active in mediums of our choice; exploring and discovering? You are so very happy that time slips away. My goodness, you might be in love. This is a wonderful lovely artist space. At the very least you are safe, less afraid, not stewing anger, or spewing hate.
Well, I am not messing around. Neither are you. I’m overbooked as it is. Up to here. I am so far from messing around, it’s unbelievable. Well, not me. Maybe you. Awfully bold of her either way.
Start messing around, more often, as soon as possible.
Seriously. Don’t even finish reading. Off you go!
We’re not messing around nearly as much as we ought to. When we are in the state of creation, this is where love comes in. Actually, love abides, and division, dissipates.
So, I say, flip the script, and start messing around.
And Make Something
is the last line of the title. Make something. Some thing.
Well, that ‘thing’ thing seems to take us from Art into Crafts, Cooking, and Koi Pond design.
Let us imagine expanding access to Art by simply enlarging what it can mean. That may open things up.
You, yes you, are invited to play, or torment yourself, but only because that’s part of the package. Shh!
Creativity is something that everybody owns a chunk of. That is my loose takeaway from Elizabeth Gilbert in her book Big Magic. As soon as one becomes aware of that then all the better.
What I mean to indicate is, if the title of this Art book were a pretty rock on the beach, I would pick it up and turn it around. And, here I am, turning it around.
Finally, part of the Messing Around idea is a term you may have heard: FAFO, or f**k around and find out.
And it seems to usually be delivered as some sort of snarling challenge that means you’re gonna fail because, by God, we already know you’re gonna fail.
A quick and simple examination indicates that other things can happen. For instance, when you fuck around, you may find out that fucking around is worth your time. Worth your energy. Worth your investment. Maybe we need to fuck around more.
Just don’t be mean.
In closing; here’s a rewrite of the title. We need you in your artistic medium more often: exploring, and discovering. Start messing around more often and whether you make something or not, should not be anybody’s concern at all.
Kind of long for a book title, I know. Can you imagine the size of the bumper needed for this sticker?
Blessings on your way,
Love, David
